{"id":71,"date":"2018-03-12T18:12:06","date_gmt":"2018-03-12T18:12:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/trains.matt5lot10.com\/?p=71"},"modified":"2018-03-12T18:12:06","modified_gmt":"2018-03-12T18:12:06","slug":"elevated-line","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trains.matt5lot10.com\/?p=71","title":{"rendered":"Elevated Line"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A quick layout update &#8211; we&#8217;ve begun building the &#8220;EL&#8221; line using laser cut bridges from <a href=\"http:\/\/bridgeboss.com\">Bridgeboss<\/a>. I&#8217;ve worked with Jim from Bridgeboss to spec out the bridges and supports for our elevated line.\u00a0 It&#8217;s definitely both an art and a science to ensure that the bridge supports clear the underlying track plan and overhand from long rolling stock and locomotives navigating curves. The plan is to use Jim&#8217;s bridges, along with a 40&#8243; Atlas O truss bridge for the majority of the line, while building a mountain and tunnel platform on the North side of the layout.<\/p>\n<p>All curves on the EL line are O-54, using Gargraves track and Ross switches.<\/p>\n<p>For the most part, Jim&#8217;s plan has cleared the underlying track well, but for the few columns that don&#8217;t, Jim offers a &#8220;support exchange&#8221; where I can ship him back some of my column supports for different sizes.
